Hats Off to our Fall ’18 Executive Board Members

IMG_8032There is no denying that the Beta Sigma Chapter of Phi Sigma Pi National Honor Fraternity is a well-established chapter, but our members are not pleased with adequacy.  Thanks to our determined executive board members as well as the rest of the brotherhood, we continue to progress and become the best we can be. Let’s take the time to honor our nine executive board members for their work this semester. They are paving a path for the future.

Position: President

Class: Alpha Sigma (Spring ’16)

Major: Accounting

Minors: Information Technology and Sports Business Management

What are your long-term plans for the future after college? “Attain a CPA certification and work full time at EY as an auditor in their Detroit office.”

What were your goals entering this semester? “To continue to build Phi Sigma Pi’s brand and presence in the community while optimizing the experience of our brothers.”

What are you most excited about regarding Phi Sigma Pi this upcoming year? “The new classes of brothers to meet and create meaningful relationships!”

What is your favorite memory from Phi Sigma Pi? “Winning my second consecutive Crown Cup title #Back2Back”

What is your guilty pleasure song? “Africa by Toto is the GOAT”

 

Amanda Godarprofile - Amanda Godar

Position: Vice President

Class: Alpha Tau (Fall ’16)

Major: Biosystems Engineering

Minors: Bioenergy Concentrations and Ecosystems Concentrations

What are your long-term plans for the future after college? “I am looking into graduate school. Prior to that I may backpack through Southeast Asia.”

What were your goals entering this semester? “As vice president it is my goal to improve Committee Organization, Committee Member Involvement, Member Voice, and Continue Bylaw Revision through support of position holders and Brothers. The way I see it the Vice President’s responsibilities are a fun mix of things you can organize/plan/manage for and the intangible or unexpected things that you can’t […]
1. Create and promote the Brotherhood Survey (questions used to assess the ‘health’ of our fraternity), then analyze, interpret, and release results to the Brotherhood.
2. Work with the committee co chairs and other chapter officials to define fall semester goals, timeline, and position responsibilities. Reference past position holders for their experience.
3. Redefine the Vice President Assistant (VPA) position and select qualified candidates to assist in the fall semester.
4. Create and modify the calendar.
5. Organize and format the Vice President Google Drive for more effective committee management and continuity between present and future cochairs
6. Be open minded to ideas brought to me and creative yet objective in my approach to problem solving.
7. Manage fraternal events from the onset of planning to the Event Reflections and gracefully handle grievances from/to the cochairs and towards myself.
8. Serve ethically and objectively as a voting executive board member acting with minimized bias towards other executive board members, Brothers, or the matters in discussion. Represent the diversity of thoughts and opinions present in the fraternity.”

What are you most excited about regarding Phi Sigma Pi this upcoming year? “The memes. Also Crown Cup is and always has been my favorite Beta Sigma Event. I hope to see it grow in this upcoming year.”

What is your favorite memory from Phi Sigma Pi? “I have probably too many. One is driving to Philly Cup to play in a soccer tournament and hang out with Brothers from 22 other chapters. That was unbelievably fun and so cool. Another was inner tubing the Red Cedar River with my Grandbig Bryce Airgood and Jack Pooler.”

What is your guilty pleasure song? “Long Wave by Bonny Doon”

Position: Recording Secretary

Class: Alpha Phi (Fall ’17)

Major: Public Policy

Minor: Environmental and Sustainability Studies

What are your long-term plans for the future after college? “I was recently accepted into a Linked Bachelor’s-Master’s Degree Program in Public Policy, so after I graduate this spring I will be completing my master’s degree through Michigan State University.”

What were your goals entering this semester? “I am hoping to help make great decisions on behalf of PSP and to help make the records we keep a bit more organized for future brothers.”

What are you most excited about regarding Phi Sigma Pi this upcoming year? “I am really looking forward to getting to know the new initiates and getting closer to the current brothers.”

What is your favorite memory from Phi Sigma Pi? “Getting close with the Phis and taking my little, Danielle Hohman, last semester. They’re great and she’s amazing!”

What is your guilty pleasure song? “King Kunta by Kendrick Lamar”

What are your long-term plans for the future after college? “Gap year and then hopefully medical school!”

What were your goals entering this semester? “Streamline attendance and make attendance percentages more accessible.”

What are you most excited about regarding Phi Sigma Pi this upcoming year? “I think our new E-board is amazing!! New co-chairs are amazing as well and they have some great ideas that I am excited to see implemented!”

What is your favorite memory from Phi Sigma Pi? “My whole initiate semester.”

What are your long-term plans for the future after college? “Work in the industry for a couple years, and then go back to school for an MBA.”

What were your goals entering this semester? “Change the way committee resources and allocated and reimbursements are given.”

What are you most excited about regarding Phi Sigma Pi this upcoming year? “Watching the new brothers find their place in the frat.”

What is your favorite memory from Phi Sigma Pi? “The initiate sleeper during my initiate semester.”

What are your long-term plans for the future after college? “I will be working for Epic Health Systems in Madison, Wisconsin.”

What were your goals entering this semester? “Make recruitment as smooth and stress free as possible for brothers and prospects.”

What are you most excited about regarding Phi Sigma Pi this upcoming year? “Recruitment and new initiates.”

What is your favorite memory from Phi Sigma Pi? “Bid night in Spring ’17 when I got my little.”

What is your guilty pleasure song? “Hollaback Girl by Gwen Stefani”

Position: Initiate Advisor

Class: Alpha Upsilon (Spring ’17)

Majors: Neuroscience and Psychology

Minors: Chinese Language and Cognitive Science

What are your long-term plans for the future after college? “I plan on going to any medical school that is willing to accept me. The dream is to end up in a big city like NYC, LA, Seattle, and etc. I want to specialize in either neurosurgery or cardiovascular surgery.”

What were your goals entering this semester? “My plan as IA is [was] to make sure that the incoming initiates feel welcomed in PSP and I am able to provide tools and insight for them to not only become a better brother but also a better person.”

What are you most excited about regarding Phi Sigma Pi this upcoming year? “I am really excited to be able to watch my initiates grow and then have them become brothers of this amazing fraternity.”

What is your favorite memory from Phi Sigma Pi? “My favorite memory from PSP is pretty much my entire initiate semester and everything that have been able to do and experience with the Upsilon class.”

What is your guilty pleasure song? “Honestly any Ed Sheeran song”

Major: Child Development

Minors: Communicative Sciences and Disorders

What are your long-term plans for the future after college? “I hope to become a licensed speech-language pathologist, work as a pre-school educator, & potentially open my own private clinic or day care center. I am an advocate for free, accessible, high quality education for all. I want to travel the world & I’m high key looking forward to the married / mother / teacher life!”

What were your goals entering this semester? “My future plans are [were] teaching the initiate class not only about our National Chapter history but all about the Beta Sigma chapter brothers, traditions, and way of life. A goal is to not only be a leader but a role model and a mentor for all brothers. I wish to spread positivity and optimism and make PSP a home to those in our organization.”

What are you most excited about regarding Phi Sigma Pi this upcoming year? “I am most excited for recruitment season for both semesters! I believe that meeting new prospectives & spreading the love and joy that is PSP is the most amazing thing ever!!”

What is your favorite memory from Phi Sigma Pi? “My favorite memory is in general meeting my best friends from this organization BUT my ultimate memory is meeting my little Jacob & surprising him as becoming his big. It is an understatement that meeting him and becoming a big changed my life.”

What is your guilty pleasure song? “I Want It That Way by the Backstreet Boys”

Position: Parliamentarian

Class: Alpha Phi (Fall ’17)

Major: Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Education

Minors: Agribusiness Management and Biology Education

What are your long-term plans for the future after college? “After college I plan on completing my student teaching year to be certified to teach high school agricultural science and biology classes.”

What were your goals entering this semester? “I hope to continue revising our governing documents and to educate the brotherhood more on parliamentary procedure this year.”

What are you most excited about regarding Phi Sigma Pi this upcoming year? “I am really excited to be able to work with the other position holders and the new initiate classes!”

What is your favorite memory from Phi Sigma Pi? “My favorite PSP memory would be meeting my big at pinning. She is absolutely amazing and I couldn’t imagine my time in PSP without her!”

What is your guilty pleasure song? “Basically any Adele song”
